Hey Barbie!

It’s Mel from MJWED x TGE again, coming back to you with some juicy goodness for this month’s blog… Eeeeek… That’s right, it’s our “Barbie inspired pink themed style shoot” which we had the honour of working on with an array of amazing wedding and event suppliers throughout Australia earlier this year!

We’ve been holding off sharing this juicy gossip because we were waiting for ‘Polka Dot Weddings’ to feature this amazing piece, and now that the cat is out of the bag it’s fair game for us to start sharing all of the fun from this loved-up day with you all x

The Barbie Inspired Concept

So, let’s start with the fun part, this vision had been working up in my head for months, pieces of it pulling together in my mind’s eye as though they were pieces of a larger puzzle slowly working their way together.

It wasn’t until we had the pleasure of working with a number of our clients at The Lussh, a gorgeous luxury-styled wedding venue tucked away in the heart of Brisbane’s inner city streets that my vision truly came to life.

I knew this one was going to be big, and I knew that The Lussh was the perfect backdrop for this vision to come to life! It was love at first site! The BEST part, the gorgeous ladies at The Lussh could see my vision too and were all in for this one!

Might I just add that I absolutely adore working with their staff there! Honestly, MJWED will work with you, your vision for your event, and the team at The Lussh any day, they are truly high class!

Mr MJWED Needed A Bit of Convincing

But let’s get back to the story at hand, would you believe that when I brought my vision to Mr MJWED he wasn’t all in for it like I was. I could see the potential, the vision, the idea for it, I had a line up of ‘A Class’ wedding and event vendors. I was ready to go out to within a heartbeat to bring this vision to life, I just had to convince one person haha!

After what felt like many back and forths, I finally got him on side and began working on my masterpiece, working my way down the list of suppliers I had gathered, and contacting them one by one, each with a resounding ‘YES, let’s do this!’

It Was More Than ‘Kenough’

Now, believe it or not, I had a lot more larger than life visionary ideas for this shoot haha think ‘Magic Mike’ flash dance mob, and ‘Flashdance: She’s a dream’ water scene, and some aerial acrobatics added in for good measure! I decided after many pleads by my friend and shoot photographer Sarah from Fire N Honey Images to ‘tone’ it back a little haha she’s always pleading with me to tone it back haha…

Now, I’m not about to tell you this was all smooth sailing, nothing ever is in the events world, we had some suppliers have to pull out very last minute due to injury or illness to no fault of their own, which we quickly sprung into action for and had back-ups we could contact, or other concepts we wanted to utilise and now had a spot we could pop them into.

I myself, ended up creating a 15-meter overhead balloon install on the day with the assistance of Chaos and Petals as our overhead install gal had a major emergency that very morning, so as we do here we sprang into action and got the job done!

As everything came together, and the girls from Velvet Rope Entertainment popped into their costumes I had a little moment where I squealed like a little girl whose fairy godmother just happened to make her very dream come true!

Everything was absolutely stunning, executed to a T and beyond perfection. This blog really doesn’t do it justice! What a testament to all the suppliers involved on the day who could see MJWED’s vision, and brought their A Game, Skills, and Creativity to help pull it all off.

This really was just the start of us making our mark in the wedding and events industry, and we cannot wait to share more with you all in the future!
