In the spirit of our 5th birthday, it’s wonderful to look back at where it all began. The story of Melanie Jane Weddings & Events didn’t start with a big team or a warehouse full of inventory. It started with a single picnic table in a garage and a girl with a dream of creating something truly special.

That first picnic table was more than just a piece of furniture; it was the foundation of a vision. Our dream was to elevate the simple, classic idea of a picnic into a luxurious, unforgettable experience. We saw a gap in the market for people who wanted to celebrate in a beautiful outdoor setting, but without the hassle of planning, setting up, cleaning and packing away.

That’s where the “luxury” part of “luxury picnics” came in. We didn’t want to just provide a blanket and some food. We wanted to offer an entire aesthetic, a curated experience with plush cushions, elegant tableware, fresh flowers, and thoughtful details that told a story. Every detail, from the colour palette to the glassware, was a deliberate choice to create a feeling of escape and romance.

Our first few bookings were a true labor of love. We would meticulously style each setup, often in our own backyard for mock photos, before carefully transporting everything to the chosen location. It was a hands-on process, fuelled by passion and a deep belief in the power of a beautiful moment. We learned to be resourceful, creative, and incredibly organised, all while our inventory was still humble.

From that one table, we’ve grown. We reinvested every dollar to grow our hire range, and to expand our services to include everything from micro-weddings to extravagant floral installs to full-scale event planning.

We’ve become preferred vendors at some of South East Queensland’s top venues, and been featured in quality publications such as QLD Brides and Polka Dot Weddings – all while making our couples dreams come true!

That initial vision to create effortless, beautiful events has remained our guiding principle.

Looking back, we are so grateful for the journey. That single picnic table taught us the most valuable lessons: that a strong vision, a dedication to quality, and a passion for our clients’ happiness are the true keys to success. It’s the reason we can now celebrate five years of helping people create their most cherished memories.
